Wrexham Association Football Club is the oldest football club in Wales and the third oldest professional association football club in the world. After American actor Rob McElhenney and Canadian American actor Ryan Reynolds bought the club in November 2020, Wrexham AFC has gradually risen from the National League to the Championship and has become the first club in the history of England's top five divisions to achieve back-to-back-to-back promotions.<\/p>
The malt shovels in the image recognises the town's important brewing history. The mining wheel is in respect to the Gresford mining disaster of 22 September 1934 when an explosion and underground fire killed 261 men and became one of the worst mining disasters in the UK. Eich Dyn is a near Welsh translation of the German Ich Dien which appears on the Wrexham club crest (along with the Prince of Wales feathers).
